Greater Manchester's Low Carbon Economic Area and Investment Events
As part of the Low Carbon Economic Area programme, Greater Manchester’s approach to the Green Deal, domestic retrofit and commercial retrofit, a number of events have been held, and useful tools have been developed, including an improved understanding of the potential for heat networks to contribute to goals, and of the investment framework needed to fund projects and programmes. The events attracted a mix of specialist practitioners, finance officers, planners and senior decision-makers from across Greater Manchester.
This work is contributing to a final ‘Green Deal’ business case and building retrofit programme which will support Greater Manchester in delivering its ambitious carbon reduction and economic growth targets. It has also contributed to Greater Manchester’s success in forming key partnerships with Government on low carbon issues as part of the Deal for Cities announced in the Budget 2012.
