Climate Action or Local Paralysis?

National climate change policy and targets have been a powerful driver for local authority action on carbon reduction and climate adaptation. But is the landscape changing?

Does the renewed interest in devolution herald a resurgence in local action and policy making on climate change? Conversely are spending cuts reducing local authority’s capacity? How are core cities leading on the agenda and what’s the role in smaller towns and rural areas? Are local authorities equipped to find the links between fuel poverty, energy generation, flooding, health and environment? What role can local authorities play in keeping the UK on track to deliver its carbon commitments?

CLASP and IPPR invite you to join policy makers and experts to share your views on these questions and discuss how policy can support and strengthen the ability of local authorities to act on climate change.

Hosted by: Will Straw, Associate Director for Climate Change, Energy & Transport, IPPR and facilitated by Louise Marix Evans, Director, Quantum Strategy & Technology for CLASP.

Quantum and IPPR are delivering Climate Change Policy Foresighting to inform future support.
