LGA are coming up to Leeds on the 24th July to provide more information on Climate Local and give you the opportunity to hear from other authorities as to how they plan to make use of Climate Local to support work in their area.

If you are interested in attending this session (which will probably run from 11am – 2pm) then please email Jon.Clubb@lgyh.gov.uk

Climate Local is a new LGA initiative that aims to support councils’ efforts to reduce carbon emissions and to improve their resilience to the effects of our changing climate and extreme weather.

Climate Local will be free-to-access for all local authorities and will consist of:

  • The Climate Local Commitment – for councils to sign to demonstrate their commitment to addressing climate change and to challenge themselves to build on their existing achievements
  • Topic-based guides and templates to help guide councils in setting local commitments and milestones and reaching their ambitions
  • A new online community and opportunities for peer learning

You can now view the Climate Local Commitment, plus supporting information covering suggested commitment actions and measures online via:  http://www.local.gov.uk/web/guest/your-council-and-climate-change/-/journal_content/56/10171/3574359/ARTICLE-TEMPLATE
