Defra, The Environment Agency & CLASP invite you to a morning briefing session on the national Climate Change Risk Assessment.
On 25 January the UK Government published its first assessment of the impacts the UK is facing from climate change. The Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA) presents the latest evidence on the threats and opportunities of climate change for the UK to the end of the century.
The CCRA will help identify priorities for action and appropriate adaptation measures here in the northwest as well as informing the development of the National Adaptation Programme (NAP) which UK Government will publish in 2013.
The CCRA has reviewed the evidence for over 700 potential impacts of climate change in a UK context. Detailed analysis was undertaken for over 100 of these impacts across 11 key sectors, on the basis of their likelihood, the scale of their potential consequences and the urgency with which action may be needed to address them. This clasp event will be informed by presentations from Defra themselves and members of the Northwest Climate Change Partnership.
A key output of the morning’s discussions will be to identify priorities for action for the public sector and its partners in insuring the investment we and others are making in growth, jobs and communities is resilient to climate change. These priorities will be taken forward to shape the support available to you in the NW, and the government’s development of its National Adaptation Plan.
