CLASP are holding a free Renewables and Low Carbon Planning Policy event showcasing recent examples of practice from North West Local Authorities on evidence gathering, policy development and implementation on 16th November 2011 for Local Authority representatives and their partner organisations.

The event will cover the following issues:

  • What evidence is needed to support policy wording?
  • How to take forward low carbon policy and core strategies
  • What acceptable policies have other Local Authorities developed?
  • How to approach policy justification

Presentations on the day will include:

  • Mapping the potential for sustainable energy in Cheshire East
  • Turning Lancashire’s renewable evidence base into policy – the next steps
  • Rossendale Borough Council’s Submitted Core Strategy DPD and recent experience from Examination
  • Implementation of Stockport’s Adopted Core Strategy DPD and Sustainable Design and Construction SPD

There will also be an interactive workshop facilitated by Quantum Strategy and Technology Ltd and Envirolink mapping out where authorities are currently up to, current successes and challenges as well as support required in the future.

There will be plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions, share your experiences and explore how and if these approaches could be applied to your area.
