Places are available (fully funded by the Environment Agency) for a 1-day Foundation Training course on Sustainable Drainage Systems.

This course is hosted by CLASP, the local authority sustainability network, and training will be delivered by CIRA, the Construction Industry Research and Information Association.

 

SuDS Training

Recent legislation in England and Wales clarifies the key role that different functions within local government (engineers, planners, landscape architects etc) will have in delivering local flood risk management and good SuDS schemes. This training course has been developed to complement current regulations and the latest SuDS guidance (The SuDS manual C697). The training programme will enable practitioners to efficiently and confidently deliver SuDS schemes.

Meet the Trainer

The training will be delivered by Steve Wilson is involved in design and construction of SuDS on a day to day basis so course delivery is based on practical experience and understanding. Steve has been involved in many research projects into the performance of SUDS, particularly proprietary systems and permeable paving.  He is currently a member of the teams that are writing the National SuDS Standards and updating the CIRIA SuDS Manual.  He has also recently been part of a team that completed a project for DEFRA looking at the cost of SuDS.

Initially this invitation to attend is primarily for local authority officers working on flood management and development planning from authorities in Lancashire.
