Come and meet with Businesses in the Community, United Utilities, Manchester City Council, Red Rose Forest and CLASP who have been working together with support from Defra to explore potential for a new school-led approach to surface water management. A beta version of the tools developed and piloted are now available for other local authorities and schools to trial and provide feedback on.

What has the project done?

 Developed a draft easy-to-use audit process and ready reckoner which schools can use to make a site-based assessment of whether, and how, a school can cost-effectively reduce their surface water charges, by implementing SUDS measures.

 Developed recommendations for a future strategic programme of interventions

What will this meeting be about?

The project team will present findings and resources from the project including:

1. The issue at hand – surface water charging, SUDS and water management in schools

2. SUDS ideas: how school sites can be adapted to meet the challenges of water management

3. Introduction to the project toolkit – its application on a school site

4. Learning points from the project

5. Discussion of scope for programme scale delivery and future development.

There will also be plenty of opportunity for questions with a panel discussion and chance to explore the toolkit which will be made freely available online afterwards.
