Workshop On Greenhouse Gas Reporting:
Conversion Factors, Regulation and Guidance
If you are new to greenhouse gas reporting, or haven’t quite kept up with the changes to Defra’s guidance and the 2013 conversion factor format, then we would invite you to book a place at CLASP’s workshop with Carbon Smart. This will take place in the morning of Wednesday 12th March at the Friends Meeting House in central Manchester.
In 2013 Defra appointed Carbon Smart to lead a review of the UK’s conversion factors for greenhouse gas reporting: http://www.ukconversionfactorscarbonsmart.co.uk/
The goal of the review was to improve the usability of the factors through simplification and the development of an online tool to better navigate them. The resulting changes to the factors themselves and the way they are presented will affect any organisation that reports on emissions in the UK. As part of the overhaul, Defra also relaunched their environmental reporting guidelines: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/environmental-reporting-guide...
Central to all of these changes, is the need to simplify greenhouse gas disclosure and keep reporting as easy to follow as possible, freeing up organisations to take real action.
Come along to Manchester on the 12th March to listen to experts from the Carbon Smart team. James Noakes, Sustainability Manager for Wigan Council, will also provide insight into why Wigan Council report greenhouse gas emissions, the methodology they have used and the reporting challenges they have faced and overcome.
There will also be a questions and answers session with the presenters which we hope will generate lively discussion.
