CLASP is offering a limited number of fully-funded places on Talk Action’s training course “Engaging Communities On Energy And Climate Change”.  This will be a private course for CLASP, delivered inPreston on the 21st July.  This is in response to the many requests in our recent survey for training in climate change communications.

This course will teach you the skills and information needed to develop long-term engagement of civil society organisations, groups and individuals in work on climate change and low-carbon living.

People attending this course will:

• Learn the ways in which community engagement can deliver lasting change on climate and energy issues and how to make this happen.
• Understand why community engagement on climate change can be problematic.
• Be clear on the best ways to start a dialogue around climate change and saving energy.
• Learn about ways to make effective links between work on fuel poverty and low carbon living.
• Learn to lead a discussion on the positive aspects of low carbon living.
• Learn to support and work with communities.
• Be able to offer guidance to any community group on reducing their own foot print.
• Receive guidance on how to develop an action plan.

Places are limited (20 in total) and are restricted to officers from local authorities, housing associations or health organisations operating in the NW of England.

By 5pm on the 7th July please click the booking link on here, fill in your details and answer a quick question about why you would like a place on this course – what use you would hope to put the training to in your organisation’s future work.

Your place will be confirmed (or sadly declined) by the end of the 8th July.  We will hold a waiting list.

The training takes place over a full-day in central Preston on Monday 21st July (10am – 4pm)

Cancellation

If you are awarded a place and later find you cannot attend you must inform CLASP at least 5 days in advance so we can reallocate your place.  Within 5 days of the training we reserve the right to charge £200 but will do our best to find a new delegate instead.  No-shows or cancellation within 24 hours will be charged £200.
