Climate Just Training
The Climate Just website (www.climatejust.org.uk) enables you to identify who is most socially vulnerable to fuel poverty, extreme weather and flooding. You can explore where they are, why they are vulnerable, and what can be done to help.
The tool is based on extensive research from the University of Manchester and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. Many organisations including Fire and Rescue Services, NHS Trusts, Local Authorities and Charities have been using the tool to help them plan for local projects.
The tool is online and free-to-use by all. However if you’d like to better understand how Climate Just could help you in your own work, and have hands-on training, please join our FREE training and development session taking place in Workington.
The Introductory Session will cover the basics of using the tool in practice, and also explain the conceptual framework that has been developed and the underlying research. Exercises will be provided to enable participants to gain confidence in using different features of the tool. Computers are provided for your use.
The training is particularly relevant for:
• Local Authorities
• Housing Associations
• NHS Trusts
• Voluntary Sector Organisations
• Fire and Rescue Services
• Health and Social Care Providers
Potential Applications of the Tool:
Climate Just has been used to support the development of plans (e.g. service plans, emergency plans, local development plans, needs assessments) and also practical delivery (community engagement, building works). Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and more extreme over time, so it is important to understand the risks to your communities and service users.
Training Funded by The Big Lottery and delivered by CLASP and Cumbria Action for Sustainability. Priority for places will be given to representatives of Cumbrian organisations.
